Gay takes the roster spot of CB Richard Marshall, and gives the Cardinals insurance on CB Greg Toler as he completes his recovery from a torn ACL. With Patrick Peterson and A.J. Jefferson also in the fold at corner, Gay might begin the year as low as fourth on the depth chart, but could also see time at safety. Marshall played both corner and safety in 2011, and Pittsburgh was mulling re-signing Gay as a safety before letting him walk. Going by opposing quarterback completion percentage, Gay was one of the league's poorer starting corners in 2011.
