Contract details:
3/19/2012: Signed a one-year contract.
Dolphins signed QB David Garrard, formerly of the Jaguars, to a one-year contract.
After whiffing on Peyton Manning, Matt Flynn, and in all likelihood Alex Smith, the Dolphins turned to their next-next-next-next-best option. And it isn't very good. While Garrard was largely an underrated NFL starter in Jacksonville, he is now 34 years old with chronic back problems. Garrard never showed the ability to carry an offense without elite talent, and after the Brandon Marshall trade the Dolphins offer an anemic supporting cast. Look for the Fins to draft a quarterback in April and hold a three-way camp battle with Garrard, the rookie, and Matt Moore. We're not optimistic that Miami will be scoring many points in '12.
