Evan Mathis contract with Philadelphia Eagles...
Latest contract details:
3/17/2012: Signed a five-year, $25 million contract. Includes $7 million guaranteed.
Eagles re-signed LG Evan Mathis to a five-year, $25 million contract.
The deal includes $7 million guaranteed. Mathis was drawing strong interest on the open market after Carl Nicks and Ben Grubbs got scooped up early, but will return to where he played under a one-year deal in 2011. Signed as a backup last summer, Mathis ended up thriving in OL coach Howard Mudd's system, and graded out as the league's No. 1 guard by Pro Football Focus. The Eagles re-signed RT Todd Herremans to a three-year, $21 million deal earlier in the week. Every member of the Eagles' offensive line is now signed through at least 2014.
Geoff Mosher of the News Journal of Wilmington reports that Eagles GM Howie Roseman has been in “constant communication” with OG Evan Mathis‘ representation throughout free agency.
Mathis is now the best available guard on the market with the recent signings of Carl Nicks and Ben Grubbs. It’s been no secret that the Eagles would like to retain Mathis but was scheduled to meet with the Ravens yesterday who could now step up their offer for him after losing Grubbs just a few hours ago.
