Evan Mathis re-signed (Philadelphia Eagles)

Evan Mathis contract with Philadelphia Eagles...
Latest contract details:
3/17/2012: Signed a five-year, $25 million contract. Includes $7 million guaranteed.

Eagles re-signed LG Evan Mathis to a five-year, $25 million contract.
The deal includes $7 million guaranteed. Mathis was drawing strong interest on the open market after Carl Nicks and Ben Grubbs got scooped up early, but will return to where he played under a one-year deal in 2011. Signed as a backup last summer, Mathis ended up thriving in OL coach Howard Mudd's system, and graded out as the league's No. 1 guard by Pro Football Focus. The Eagles re-signed RT Todd Herremans to a three-year, $21 million deal earlier in the week. Every member of the Eagles' offensive line is now signed through at least 2014.

Geoff Mosher of the News Journal of Wilmington reports that Eagles GM Howie Roseman has been in “constant communication” with OG Evan Mathis‘ representation throughout free agency.

Mathis is now the best available guard on the market with the recent signings of Carl Nicks and Ben Grubbs. It’s been no secret that the Eagles would like to retain Mathis but was scheduled to meet with the Ravens yesterday who could now step up their offer for him after losing Grubbs just a few hours ago.

Ramon Sessions traded to Los Angeles Lakers

Cavaliers Waive Jason Kapono, Sign Manny Harris For Season
The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired Jason Kapono in the Ramon Sessions trade with the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this week. On Saturday, the Cavs announced that they waived Kapono and that they will use the roster spot to instead sign Manny Harris for the rest of the season. The transactions were announced on that Cavaliers official website. The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed guard Manny Harris for the remainder of the 2011-12 season, Cavaliers General Manager Chris Grant announced today. Per league and team policy, terms of the contract were not announced. Additionally, the Cav...

NBA Trade Deadline: Analysis Of Ramon Sessions to Lakers Trade

As you know by now, the Cleveland Cavaliers traded Ramon Sessions and Christian Eyenga to the Los Angeles Lakers for Luke Walton, Jason Kapono, and 2012 first round pick. People were quick to slaughter the Cavaliers for what many called "just giving away" Sessions to fill the Lakers' biggest need. Let me say this before I go any further: I absolutely approve of this move by Chris Grant. It was the right move for the franchise considering where they are and what they are trying to do. You may not agree with me now, but hopefully by the end of this post, I'll have convinced you tha...

NBA Trade Deadline: Ramon Sessions and Christian Eyenga Traded To Lakers

According to a report by ESPN's Brian Windhorst, the Cleveland Cavaliers have traded backup point guard Ramon Sessions to the Los Angeles Lakers. In return, the Cavaliers will receive "a future draft pick." The total deal is that the Cavaliers will trade Sessions and Christian Eyenga to the Lakers for Luke Walton and the first round pick. Luke Walton makes $5.7 million this year and $6.1 million next year. In a weird addition, the Lakers now have the ability to swap picks with Miami's pick (which Cleveland owns) in 2013. As part of the deal, the Lakers also will have the right t...

Jason Jones (Seattle Seahawks)

Jason Jones contract status 2012
Seahawks signed DL Jason Jones, formerly of the Titans, to a one-year contract.
Easily the top defensive lineman left on the market, Jones will head to the Pacific Northwest after failing to reach an agreement with his former coach Jeff Fisher's Rams. One of the more underrated players in the league, Jones is capable of playing both tackle and end, but prefers tackle. That should be where he suits up in Seattle with Chris Clemons and Red Bryant entrenched at end. A return to his preferred position could lead to a much bigger payday for Jones next offseason.

Contract details:
ESPN’s Josina Anderson reports that the Rams have signed defensive lineman Kendall Langford to a four-year, $24 million contract with $12 million guaranteed.

The contract may reduce St. Louis’ chances of landing fellow free agent defensive tackle Jason Jones. Jones visited Rams Park quickly after the beginning of free agency, but left without a contract and recently met with the division-rival Seahawks.

Jones has intended to sign a deal this weekend. We suspect he’s now Seattle bound.

Langford has strictly been a two-down, 3-4 defensive end in Miami and will have to change his game with St. Louis, likely playing as an inside pass rusher. He has 7.5 sacks in 64 NFL games.

Jones has 15.5 sacks in 49 career games. He’d be a big addition to a Seahawks defense in need of an improved interior pass rush.

Kendall Langford (St. Louis Rams)

Kendall Langford signed contract with Kendall Langford...

Rams signed DL Kendall Langford, formerly of the Dolphins, to a four-year, $24 million contract.
The deal includes $12 million guaranteed. Unsurprisingly, the Rams were able to outbid the penny-pinching Bengals. It's an extremely-nice haul for a player who took a small step back during the final year of his rookie deal last season, but solid signing for a team that let itself get long in the tooth along its defensive line the past few seasons. However, Langford will be forced to switch to a 4-3 defense after playing in a 3-4 in South Beach. Somewhat of a hybrid lineman, Langford has excelled as both a pass rusher and run stuffer during his career. His signing likely takes the Rams out of the running for free agent DL Jason Jones.

Drew Stanton Signs With New York Jets

The Detroit Lions officially have a hole at quarterback to fill. Drew Stanton, last year's third-string quarterback, has signed with the New York Jets. His deal is for one year and is worth $1.25 million. As soon as NFL free agency began on Tuesday, Stanton set up a visit with the Jets. New York wanted to fill its need for a backup quarterback, and Stanton appeared to be at the top of their list. Although they did schedule a visit with Brady Quinn, Stanton did not leave New York without a deal today. His visit resulted in a signing, and now Stanton is going to play for a football... Pride Of Detroit

The Jets found their backup quarterback Friday afternoon, agreeing in principle to a contract with Drew Stanton, the team announced. The team also signed wide receiver Chaz Schilens, formerly of the Radiers. Stanton's deal is for one year, $1.25 million, according to the source. He spent four years with the Lions, appearing in 12 games, starting four. He has not played in a game since 2010.  Quarterbacks aren't the only Detroit Lions free agents taking visits elsewhere. Analysis: Playing with fire at QB

Mike Tannenbaum, bargain hunter. Who'da thunk it? Instead of rocking the NFL with their typically sexy moves, the Jets are taking a methodical, low-key approach to free agency. Some of that, of course, is dictated by salary-cap restrictions, but it's also about finding value and not overpaying, as so many teams have done with over-rated players. Hey, this is how the really good teams stay good. So Friday, they signed their first two free agents, backup QB Drew Stanton and WR Chaz Schilens. Jets Blog | ESPN New York

Richard Jefferson traded to Golden State Warriors

Latest contract details:
Contract:4 yr(s) / $39,000,000 Signing Bonus - Average Salary $9,750,000 End Year:2013 / 2014 Free Agent:2014 / Unrestricted

2011-12: $9,282,000.
2012-13: $10,164,000.
2013-14: $11,046,000 [Player Option].
2014-15: UFA

A Richard Jefferson for Stephen Jackson trade is in advanced discussions, according to multiple reports.
The Warriors would likely get a first-round pick back from the Spurs as well. Remember that Jackson spent two years with the Spurs from 2001-2003 and was always a favorite of coach Gregg Popovich. He certainly has more athletic ability left than Jefferson as the Spurs seek another title and would likely slide in as the starting shooting guard quickly. This is also further confirmation that the Warriors are "all-in" on Klay Thompson.

Greg Oden Waived by Portland Trail Blazers

Blazers waived center Greg Oden on Thursday.
It's just a procedural move. Oden is out for the year -- and maybe his career -- due to his well-documented knee woes. He was going to be an unrestricted free agent after the season anyway and will be hoping an NBA team is willing to take a shot on damaged upside.

Yankees signed LHP Andy Pettitte to a minor league contract.
It's stunning news for a guy that didn't pitch at all in 2011 and said in the middle of last season that he was "absolutely loving being home." But, Jack Curry of the YES Network reports that Pettitte admitted three weeks ago that he was considering a comeback and has now decided to follow through with it. He'll earn $2.5 million and will work his way up through the minors initially before eventually likely bumping either Phil Hughes or Freddy Garcia from the rotation. We would guess that Hughes will probably be shifted to the bullpen since he has experience there, but the Yanks haven't revealed their concrete plans.

Titans signed OG Steve Hutchinson to a three-year, $16 million contract.
The Titans had made it clear since the offseason began that upgrading the interior of the offensive line was a priority. There may be more to the story, though. ESPN's John Clayton suggests Hutchinson may have picked Tennessee over a return to Seattle because of the Peyton Manning connection. The two veterans share the same agent in Tom Condon. Even at age 34, Hutchinson is a major upgrade on Jake Scott and Leroy Harris at guard.

A's GM Billy Beane reiterated that Yoenis Cespedes is not guaranteed an Opening Day roster spot.
Cespedes, who signed a four-year, $36 million contract in February, is 2-for-5 with a home run and two walks thus far in Cactus League play. If he's sent down to Triple-A Sacramento to open the year, it won't be for long. "Whether we think he'll be ready to handle it the first game of the year or the 10th game, we just don't know," Beane said. "I think we'll just have a feel. If we think he can handle it up here, we'll make that decision."

Vincent Jackson contract Tampa Bay Buccaneers, extension, status, history, dispute...
Latest contract details:
3/13/2012: Signed a five-year, $55,555,555 contract. The deal contains $26 million guaranteed, including a $2 million first-year roster bonus and all of Jackson's first two base salaries. 2012: $11 million, 2013: $13 million, 2014: $10 million, 2015-2016: $9.77 million, 2017: Free Agent

Bucs agreed to terms with Vincent Jackson a five-year, $55.555 million contract, including $26 million guaranteed.
Jackson will earn $26 million over the first two years and $36 million over the next three, topping Santonio Holmes' $24 million guaranteed from last year. The Bucs jumped in feet-first, causing V-Jax's other suitors to fall by the wayside. Jackson will immediately slot in as the No. 1 receiver in Tampa, sending Mike Williams to No. 2 and Arrelious Benn to a situational role. Expect Jackson's fantasy stock to decline with a quarterback downgrade and coach Greg Schiano's traditionally run-heavy offensive attack.

Ben Grubbs (New Orleans Saints)

Ben Grubbs contract with New Orleans Saints...
Latest contract details:
Saints signed OG Ben Grubbs, formerly of the Ravens, to a five-year, $36 million deal.
The deal includes a $10 million signing bonus, and $16 million "fully guaranteed." Grubbs provides the Saints a soft landing after they lost LG Carl Nicks to the Bucs, but at a surprisingly steep cost. Grubbs landed just $11.5 million less total money, and will average roughly $2 million less per season. Grubbs graded out as Pro Football Focus' sixth-best left guard in 2011, but Nicks was significantly better in both run and pass blocking. Nicks is also more than a year younger. The Ravens will likely now focus on signing free agent Evan Mathis to replace Grubbs.

The deal includes $6 million guaranteed. An Eagles' castoff, Patterson was the Browns' nickel back last season, notching 28 tackles and zero interceptions. Solid in coverage, his return is good news for a pass defense that allowed just 184.9 yards per game in 2011.

Bills signed DE/OLB Mario Williams to a six-year, $100 million contract.
The first ever $100 million contract for a defensive player includes $50 million guaranteed. The deal dwarves the then record six-year, $84 million pact signed by Bears RE Julius Peppers in March 2010. Peppers' deal included $42 million guaranteed. From a football perspective, the Bills provide Williams a chance to move back to his natural position of defensive end as they switch from a 3-4 to 4-3 defensive front. The No. 1 overall pick of the 2006 draft has notched 53.5 sacks in 82 career games.

Contract details:
Patriots signed DE Jonathan Fanene to a three-year contract.
The deal includes a $3.85 million signing bonus. Signing Fanene was reportedly the Patriots "first priority" after missing out on Red Bryant, and he'll likely be the team's starting left end in 2012. Fanene started just two games for the Bengals last season, but was effective against the run and tallied 6.5 sacks in just 379 snaps. He was limited to two games by a hamstring injury in 2010, but also managed six sacks in 2009.

Competent both against the run and as a pass rusher, Redding will be reuniting with his former defensive boss Chuck Pagano in Indy. He graded out as one of the league's top ends by Pro Football Focus in 2011, and will fit nicely into the Colts' 3-4 defense. Richard Marshall contract with the Miami Dolphins 2012, extension, status, info, terms, year...
Contract details:
Dolphins signed DB Richard Marshall to a three-year, $16 million contract, including $6 million guaranteed.
A cornerback in name, Marshall played outside, in the slot, and at safety last season as coordinator Ray Horton's anointed defensive MVP. Marshall could compete with Sean Smith at corner, with the loser seeing time at nickelback and perhaps at free safety. It's a strong signing, and one the Cardinals may have made if not for Peyton Manning's drawn-out recruiting process.

Carl Nicks contract with Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2012...
Contract details:
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bucs have agreed to terms with LG Carl Nicks on a five-year, $47.5 million contract.
The deal includes $31 million guaranteed, topping Logan Mankins as the highest-paid guard in both annual pay and up-front money. The Bucs have landed arguably the two biggest prizes of the first 16 hours of free agency in Nicks and Vincent Jackson, following through on a promise to surround Josh Freeman with premier talent. Arguably the best guard in the NFL, Nicks will slot in opposite RG Davin Joseph, giving the Bucs an imposing frontline. As of Tuesday night, the Saints were "making a push" to sign Ben Grubbs as Nicks' replacement.

Calvin Johnson (Detroit Lions)

Calvin Johnson contract extension, info, status, with the Detroit Lions 2012, terms, situation...
Contract details:
Lions signed Calvin Johnson to a seven-year, $132 million extension through the 2019 season.
Megatron is on a plane headed to Detroit for the 1:00 p.m. press conference. Johnson's $18.86 million per season and a record-breaking $60 million guaranteed top Larry Fitzgerald's $16 million per and $50 million guaranteed respectively, making him easily the highest-paid player in the NFL, regardless of position. The long-term contract also frees up cap space for the Lions, perhaps enabling a Stephen Tulloch signing. More importantly, Detroit has locked in the game's most dominant skill-position talent. From a fantasy perspective, the deal cements Johnson as the most valuable asset in Dynasty leagues while stabilizing Matthew Stafford as a top-five quarterback.

Calvin Johnson (Achilles tendinitis) is taking part in his normal offseason training routine.
Johnson skipped the Pro Bowl, but this was never a real concern. "You don't want to come into the offseason with anything nagging," he said. "I just wanted to get out of that, just so I could have anything clear up." Johnson signed a seven-year, $132 extension through the 2019 season earlier Wednesday.

Dolphins re-signed NT Paul Soliai to a two-year, $18 million deal.
The market's top available nose tackle, Soliai had reportedly been drawing interest from as many as six teams, and had a visit lined up with the Broncos. He was viewed as done in Miami for much of the offseason as the Dolphins prepared to switch to a 4-3 defense, but this could be a sign Miami is planning to use hybrid fronts or stick with the 3-4. Playing under the franchise tag in 2011, Soliai graded out as the league's 38th best defensive tackle by Pro Football Focus.

Laurent Robinson (Jacksonville Jaguars)

Laurent Robinson contract status, extension, with the Jakcsonville Jaguars....
Latest contract details:
Jaguars signed WR Laurent Robinson, formerly of the Cowboys, to a five-year, $32.5 million contract.
The deal reportedly includes $14 million guaranteed. It's a hefty chunk of change for an injury-prone journeyman, but a necessary risk for a team that fielded one of the worst "receiver corps" in recent memory last season. If Robinson plays anything like he did for Dallas in 2011, he'll provide the Jags with a true vertical and red-zone threat. Of course, with skittish sophomore Blaine Gabbert at the controls, he'll have a hard time matching the out-of-nowhere numbers he posted for the Cowboys.

Contract:4 yr(s) / $25,900,000 Signing Bonus - Average Salary $6,475,000 End Year:2015 Free Agent:2016 / Unrestricted

Chargers signed WR Robert Meachem to a four-year, $25.9 million contract.
So much for Meachem not making it out of Buffalo. The deal includes $14 million guaranteed. It's a huge contract for someone who was something of an underachiever during his four seasons in New Orleans. Meachem drew heavy interest from the get-go Tuesday, however, and is still viewed as a potential No. 1 receiver in some circles. That's what he'll have to be in San Diego after the Bolts lost Vincent Jackson to the Bucs. That, of course, bodes well for Meachem's fantasy value even though he's leaving the NFL's most prolific passing attack. He's a good bet to best his career-best line of 45/722/9 from 2009 next season.

Stephen Jackson (Golden State Warriors)

Stephen Jackson contract extension, rams, warriors, nba, bobcats, year, status...
Stephen Jackson was traded back to the Warriors on Tuesday in part of a deal swapping Monta Ellis for Andrew Bogut.
This is one of the more interesting landing spots for Jackson, as he was an instrumental part of the 'We Believe' Warriors playoff team but became vilified on his way out the door. That said, he'll be welcomed in Oakland with more optimism than in just about any other place that he could have gone. We'll have to get Mark Jackson's take on whether he wants to play Jackson at SG or SF, as Klay Thompson is the apple of ownership's eye. Either way, this could end Dorell Wright's fantasy value if Thompson gets 30 minutes per game.

The Warriors are already fielding trade offers for Stephen Jackson.
Jackson was acquired by Golden State as part of the massive five-player trade that sent Monta Ellis to Milwaukee, and although the Warriors have no plans to buy him out, the team has already received interest from other clubs about working a trade for the swingman. The team wants to make sure that Mark Jackson wants to work with Jackson, but it's possible the veteran is flipped elsewhere before Thursday's trade deadline.

Andrew Bogut (Golden State Warriors)

Andrew Bogut extension, up, nba, money, year...
Latest contract details:
Andrew Bogut was traded to Golden State in exchange for Monta Ellis on Tuesday.
The other pieces included Stephen Jackson being sent back to his old stomping grounds, and Ekpe Udoh and Kwame Brown heading over to Milwaukee. This trade has a lot of implications, including a signal that Orlando is going to either go down with the Titanic or trade Dwight Howard -- but one way or another he is leaving. The other signal is that Golden State is done being a running basketball team. Pairing Bogut next to defenseless David Lee is a fine solution -- if Bogut can stay healthy. He doesn't have a chronic injury, though you can argue that his arm/elbow and ankle falls in that category, but he is a huge injury risk no matter how you slice it.

Andrew Bogut and Stephen Jackson have been officially traded to the Golden State Warriors as part of a five-player deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.
Bogut isn't going to help the Warriors this season, and there has been a lot of talk that Golden State is throwing the towel in on the season with this deal. It's unbelievable the Warriors were willing to take back Jackson and the ridiculous contract he's attached to, but it's possible he could still be traded elsewhere before the deadline. The Warriors are gambling big on Bogut's health, but he does fit a huge need in the middle and is a solid complement to David Lee's style of play.

Brandon Marshall (Chicago Bears)

Brandon Marshall contract with chicago bears, 2010, extension, broncos, miami, year, dispute...
Latest contract details:
Contract:5 yr(s) / $47,300,000 Signing Bonus $5,500,000 Average Salary $9,460,000 End Year:2014 Free Agent:2015 / Unrestricted

Bears acquired WR Brandon Marshall from the Dolphins in exchange for two third-round draft picks.
Rookie Bears GM Phil Emery's first major move on the job was a doozy. The third-round picks will be in 2012 and 2013. The Dolphins are left with Brian Hartline, Davone Bess, and Clyde Gates as their top three wide receivers, and are hardly assured so much as a defensive or offensive starter via either of the picks. The Bears have a true No. 1 receiver for the first time since the 1960s, give or take a Willie Gault, or a Marcus Robinson. We like the fit for Marshall from a fantasy perspective. Jay Cutler showed no fear in targeting him relentlessly with the Broncos. Whether Marshall keeps his head on straight enough to make the trade worthwhile remains to be seen.

Marques Colston contract terms, extension, status, worth, saints, year, info...
Latest contract details:
3/13/2012: Signed a five-year, $40 million contract. The deal contains $19 million guaranteed.

Contract:5 yr(s) / $40,000,000 Signing Bonus - Average Salary $8,000,000 End Year:2016 Free Agent:2017 / Unrestricted

Saints re-signed WR Marques Colston to a five-year, $40 million contract.
The deal reportedly includes $19 million guaranteed. A move that previously seemed unlikely gained momentum after dueling Tuesday reports revealed the Saints were "working feverishly" to re-sign their physical slot receiver, and that Colston "badly" wanted to remain in New Orleans. Since the Saints were expected to enter free agency with just $7 million in cap space, Colston will undoubtedly earn a low base salary in 2012 before seeing his numbers steadily increase. It's the best possible news from a fantasy perspective, as Colston had little chance of equaling his routinely prolific production outside of the Saints' aggressive aerial attack. Colston will turn 29 in June.

Chase Daniel (New Orleans Saints)

Chase Daniel contract redskins, new orleans saints, terms, info...
Latest contract details:
The New Orleans Times-Picayune expects the Saints to re-sign restricted free agent Chase Daniel.
The Saints aren't expected to pursue a veteran free agent to compete with Daniel to be Drew Brees' backup. The former Heisman Trophy finalist has spent the past two seasons holding Brees' clipboard, and has attempted just eight career passes. He completed 28-of-53 passes for 447 yards and three touchdowns last preseason.

Saints re-signed restricted free agent QB Chase Daniel to a one-year, $1 million contract.
While Daniel had drawn mention as an RFA to watch on the open market, the Saints weren't even prepared to offer a tender. Rather than a non-guaranteed $1.26 million salary, Drew Brees' backup will receive the $1 million contract and a $300,000 signing bonus.

Eric Winston (Houston Texans)

Eric Winston contract extension, info...
Latest contract details:
Texans informed RT Eric Winston of his release.
The shocking move clears $5.5 million in base salary. Winston hasn't missed a start since his 2006 rookie season, and has been a key cog in the Texans' highly productive zone-blocking scheme. Despite the release, Winston won't have trouble exceeding what the Texans were going to pay him on an incredibly thin offensive tackle market. Only 28 years old, Winston should appeal to other zone-blocking clubs like the Redskins. Pro Football Focus graded Winston as a top-six right tackle last season. He was 11th overall in PFF's rankings.
